Tales of Kathay is a turn-based role-playing game set in a rich, living world that's entirely procedural and deeply simulated.

Uncover a world shaped by thousands of years of dynamic, simulated history—where kingdoms rise and fall, legends are born, and the consequences of your actions ripple across generations. Whether you’re delving into ancient dungeons, forging alliances, or altering the fate of empires, your choices truly matter.

Engage in tactical, turn-based combat inspired by classic tabletop RPGs, where creativity and planning are rewarded. Create your own stories in a sandbox world that evolves whether you’re there to shape it or simply observe it unfold.

The game is currently in early development. It is playable, but missing key mechanics and with limited content.

Play the Closed Alpha on Patreon. Differences from the demo:

  • Unlocks all world sizes & history length;
  • No level cap;

The UI bug still appears with the new version

Hi! I was able to reproduce the issue in a Windows machine by changing the "Scale & Layout" on the windows Display options. 100% works, anything else breaks.
Can you check if it's the same issue for you? I'll start working on a fix right now.

Just uploaded a patch (0.9.1) with a fix that worked on my machine. Let me know if it fixes for you too!

Yes, that was exactly the problem, the 0.9.1 fixed that, thank you very much!

Heya, just found out about your game from RogueBasin! Looking great! Keep up the good work!
I've got a problem on Windows - the UIs are being masked depending on window resolution

Hi, thanks for the kind words and for letting me know about the issue! I actually saw this issue on a friend's PC a while ago but haven't been able to reproduce it. You mention it depends on the window resolution? If you resize the window, it fixes itself?

same here

Thanks for letting me know! Do you mind sharing your PC / Windows specs? Doesn't seem to be a generalized issue

I have an acer nitro v16 AI with windows 11

Awesome! Hope you enjoy the game, now that you're finally able to hahaha

It seems you fixed it!

It might be good to compile the Linux version using an older target to avoid issues with glibc compatibility. For example, Ubuntu 22.04 does not have glibc 2.39 available that the binary was compiled against.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll look into it for the next releases!

Hi! The update 0.2.0 should be playable on Ubuntu 22.04!
